      "On July 26, 1836, in New York City, Hart was married to a New Orleans woman who was known as "the widow Kokernot," Betsy Levy Kokernot, who had come to New Orleans no later than 1820. Alexander gave his Hebrew name, to be inscribed on the religious certificate, as 'Alexander the son of Master Yehudah who is called Hart,' and Betsy, as 'Billah the daughter of Master Nachman.'"
